![]() In 2001, Pacífico Dance Company along with Mariachi Sol de Mexico made a historic visit to North Korea and the People's Republic of China as part of a cultural arts exchange. Local southern California venues include The Carpenter Center in Long Beach, the Cerritos Performing Arts Center, the Redlands Bowl, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the Luckman Fine Arts Complex, The Getty Center, and the Universal Amphitheatre. Pacífico was also honored to perform in residence at the world-famous Kennedy Center in 2007. The company has performed at many venues throughout the Southwestern United States including Utah, Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico. They have collaborated with several well known musicians including Mariachi Sol de Mexico de Jose Hernandez, Pablo Montero, Conjunto Jardin and Pepe Aguilar for live performances. P re-Hispanic works from Concheros and traditional dances from Jalisco, Guerrero, Puebla, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Michoacan, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas and Veracruz round out the repertoire.įor six consecutive years the Company perfo rmed at the prestigious Dance Kaleidoscope Summer Dance Festival in Los Angeles. Some of the most ambitious works include Frida Kahlo, the Legend of La Llorona, Sal ó n M é xico, Mictlan, Calacas Clandestinas, and the Virgin of Guadalup e. These brilliant artists collaborate to present both traditional and innovative works that combine the essence of traditional styles with modern dance idioms. Comprised of 40 accomp lished dancers and musicians, the company prides itself on educating culturally diverse communities as well as, providing Hispanic audiences with a forum for developin g pride in their own heritage. Under the Artistic direction of Adriana Astorga-Gainey, Pacífico Dance Company has performed for audiences across the nation and internationally. She also loves the Utah mountains, paddle boarding, playing cards, rock climbing, and a good movie night.Pacífico Dance Company was founded in 1992 as a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and reconstruction of classical and contemporary Mexican dance forms. Miranda currently lives in Sandy with her husband, Thomas, and her son, Jax. She has taught and substituted at several studios across Utah Valley. Throughout College, she continued to train in Ballroom, Modern, Contemporary, and Ballet. Miranda graduated from the University of Utah with B.S in Human Development and Family Studies. Out of 30+ couples, Miranda credits this moment to her years of ballet training. The following year she competed in Open Smooth and placed 6th at the National Amateur Dancesport Championships. Within the first year, Miranda was asked to join the highest-ranking team at the studio. She began dancing for Ballroom Universe under champion Ray Backlund. During this time, Miranda performed in Utah County’s largest production of the Nutcracker in a variety of different roles.Īfter 15 years of ballet training, Miranda became eager for more training in a different style. Along with ballet she became versed in Jazz, Modern, and Contemporary. She trained under Jaqueline College and her daughters, Heather and Brittany. But, the gold and red tutu with her permed hair were really cute.Īt the age of 5, Miranda began dancing for Utah Regional Ballet, now Utah Metropolitan Ballet. She always jokes that the only thing she did during tap performances was run onto the stage, stomp her feet, and then run off. At a young age, she started tap dancing at the local recreation center. Miranda was born and raised in Cedar Hills, Utah. Brendan is a member of Percussive Footworks Ensemble and has taught for Kaleidoscope for 5 years. His goal is to share the versatility and variety of dance through dancers from many different backgrounds. Brendan has performed with Hale Center Theatre in Mary Poppins, Seussical the Musical, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, and A Light in the Piazza. ![]() His love and experience in many different styles has made Brendan a very versatile dancer and choreographer. At Brigham Young University-Idaho, he was able to learn and fall in love with many different styles including Folk, Tap, Clog, Irish, and Modern. He was able to help his team achieve three second-place national titles while he danced with this company, earning the company’s reputation as one of the best ballroom studios in the country.Īfter graduating High School he discontinued his serious study of ballroom to study more styles. After two years, he auditioned for a more competitive company and stayed with that company until he graduated high school. Little did he understand how quickly he would find himself completely addicted to dance. When Brendan was twelve years old, he joined a Ballroom class with his friend because they needed boys.
